How to Use Psych Studio
Everything you need to know to get the most out of your PRITE preparation.
Getting Started
Create an Account
Sign up with your email and join your residency program's organization. Your program director or a classmate will share the organization name with you.
Join Your Organization
After signing up, go to the Organizations page and search for your program. Submit a join request — an admin will approve it. All your study data, questions, and progress are scoped to your organization.
Your Dashboard
The dashboard is your home base. It shows your mastery score, current streak, XP, weakest domain, weekly question count, unlockable achievements, residency rank progression, per-domain mastery bars, and a 70-day activity heatmap.
AI Tutor
Go to AI Tutor →Chat Modes
Choose from three modes: Study Tutor (ask any psychiatry question, request mnemonics, discuss clinical scenarios), Drug Interaction Checker (check medication interactions with clinical recommendations), and Patient Counseling (practice explaining medications in patient-friendly language).
Domain Focus
Select a specific PRITE domain from the sidebar dropdown to focus the AI's responses on that topic area. The tutor will tailor its responses to your chosen domain.
Evidence Strict Mode
Toggle this on to require the AI to cite peer-reviewed sources and clinical guidelines in every response. Great for building evidence-based study habits.
Web-Grounded Mode
When enabled, the AI cross-references its answers with up-to-date clinical sources (PubMed, FDA, NEJM, JAMA, etc.) via Perplexity AI. This ensures drug information and guidelines are current.
Concise vs. Detailed
Toggle between short, summary-style answers (2-4 sentences) and comprehensive, structured responses with full explanations.
Voice Tutor
Switch to voice mode for a hands-free spoken conversation with the AI tutor. Adjust playback speed (0.75x-2x), and after each session, get suggested practice questions based on what you discussed.
Question Bank
Go to Question Bank →Browse & Search
View all questions uploaded by your organization. Filter by domain, topic, or search by keyword. Each question shows its answer choices, explanation, and metadata.
Import Questions
Go to the Import page to upload a .docx file containing PRITE-style questions. The system automatically parses stems, answer choices, and correct answers. Preview before importing.
Flag & Edit
Flag questions that have errors or need review. Propose explanation edits that go through an approval workflow. Admins can edit stems, update domains, lock questions, and review flags.
AI Auto-Label
Admins can use AI to automatically categorize questions by PRITE domain — either one at a time or in bulk across the entire question bank.
Quiz Mode
Go to Quiz Mode →Configure Your Quiz
Set the number of questions, time limit, and domain filter. Choose a question mode: new questions only, repeat ones you got correct, repeat ones you got wrong, or spaced recall (due for review).
Take the Quiz
Questions appear one at a time with a countdown timer. Select your answer (some questions allow multiple selections), then reveal the correct answer and read the explanation.
Track Progress
Every answer is saved automatically. Your domain progress, accuracy rates, and streak all update in real time. Missed questions auto-generate flashcards for later review.
Flashcards & Spaced Repetition
Go to Flashcards & Spaced Repetition →Auto-Generated Cards
Flashcards are automatically created from questions you miss on quizzes. You can also generate new cards in bulk using AI.
Browse & Flip
View all your flashcards and click to flip between the question side and answer side.
Spaced Repetition Review
Start a review session to go through cards that are due. After seeing the answer, rate your recall: Again, Hard, Good, or Easy. This adjusts when the card appears next — cards you struggle with come back sooner, cards you know well space out further.
PsychRx (Pharmacology)
Go to PsychRx (Pharmacology) →Drug-Receptor Matrix
An interactive table showing receptor binding affinities for psychiatric medications. Filter by drug class, clinical indication, or receptor group. Switch between affinity view and CYP enzyme view.
Drug Profiles
Click any drug for detailed information: brand names, half-life, indications, adult and pediatric dosing/titration guidance, FDA approval status, and citations.
PsychRx Quiz
Test your pharmacology knowledge with targeted quizzes on drug mechanisms, interactions, and clinical applications.
AI Pharmacology Assistant
Ask the built-in PsychRx AI about any drug, interaction, or mechanism. It draws from the same receptor database for accurate, detailed answers.
Case Vignettes
Go to Case Vignettes →Create Cases
Write clinical case vignettes with a title, case narrative, and clinical question. Share them with your organization for collaborative learning.
Respond & Compare
Read cases created by peers, submit your diagnosis or clinical reasoning, and see how your classmates responded. Great for building differential diagnosis skills.
Peer Challenges
Go to Peer Challenges →Create a Challenge
Set up a multiplayer quiz session — choose realtime (everyone answers simultaneously) or async (complete at your own pace). Configure question count, domain, and share the join link with classmates.
Live Scoreboard
During realtime challenges, a live scoreboard tracks everyone's progress and scores. The host controls question pacing.
Classroom Live
Go to Classroom Live →Host a Session
Program directors or senior residents can host live quiz sessions. Create a session, share the join URL or QR code, and control the question flow in real time.
Response Dashboard
The host sees real-time response counts per answer choice and confidence breakdowns (sure vs. unsure) from all participants. Perfect for didactic sessions and group learning.
Join as a Student
Enter the session code to join a live classroom session. Answer questions as they appear and see your results after the host reveals answers.
Match Lab (Games)
Go to Match Lab (Games) →Matching Games
Pair items from two shuffled columns to test your recall. Categories include: DSM Diagnoses ↔ Clinical Clues (83 diagnoses), Psych Meds ↔ CYP Enzymes, Pioneers of Psychiatry ↔ Contributions, and extensive Developmental Milestones across all stages.
How to Play
Select one item from the left column and one from the right, then lock your match. Correct matches turn green. Work through all pairs in each category to complete the game.
Study Hub
Go to Study Hub →All Modes in One Place
The Study Hub is a launcher page linking to every study mode: Spaced Recall, Timed PRITE Blocks, Case Vignettes, Match Games, Classroom Live, Flashcards, Peer Challenges, and PsychRx. Start here when you're not sure what to study.
Progress & Achievements
Domain Mastery
Your dashboard tracks accuracy and completion for each PRITE domain. The mastery score is your overall weighted accuracy across all domains.
Streaks & XP
Earn XP for every question answered, flashcard reviewed, and quiz completed. Study every day to build your streak — longer streaks mean bigger XP multipliers.
Achievements
Unlock achievements as you hit milestones: first quiz, streak records, question counts, accuracy targets, and more. Each achievement awards bonus XP.
Residency Rank
Your XP determines your rank tier, from Medical Student through Chief Resident and beyond. Climb the ranks by studying consistently.
Tips for Effective Studying
Daily Reviews
Spend 5-10 minutes each day reviewing due flashcards. Spaced repetition is the most evidence-based method for long-term retention.
Active Recall
Don't just re-read. Use quiz mode and the AI tutor to actively test yourself. Struggling to recall strengthens memory far more than passive review.
Target Weak Domains
Check your dashboard for your weakest domain and focus your next study session there. The biggest score gains come from improving your weakest areas.
Peer Learning
Create case vignettes, challenge classmates, and review each other's explanations. Teaching and debating concepts deepens understanding.
Use Voice Mode on the Go
Switch the AI tutor to voice mode during commutes or downtime. Ask it to quiz you verbally or explain tough concepts — hands-free studying.
Ready to start studying?
Head to your dashboard and pick a study mode. Consistency beats intensity — even 10 minutes a day adds up.
